In January 2016 I had the pleasure of once again visiting the nation of Albania. This was my second trip to this Balkan country, having also been there in July 2015.
This time I was going at the invitation of Alket and Alma Sako, leaders of the YWAM base in Durres, an ancient city that was once visited by the apostle Paul. I had been asked to teach the students as part of their DTS training school and had been asked specificially to minister on the gifts of the Spirit, with a particular emphasis on prophecy.
The group that I was speaking to had young missionaries from USA, Canada, South America, Ukraine and Kosovo as well as Albanian nationals. They were a real hungry group and a pleasure to teach. I spoke for several hours each day, lecturing on who the Holy Spirit is and how we can encounter Him, a brief overview of the spiritual gifts and an indepth look at prophecy. We also looked at how to move in the anointing and how to hear the voice of God.
On one of the evenings we had a Q+A night, and I was answering questions for over two hours on a variety of subjects. On another evening I spoke to all the students and also the staff members and this was followed by a time of impartation where I prophesied over each person. A couple of people were baptised in the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues for the first time.
On the Wednesday night I travelled to Fusche Kruje to speak at a packed church. Several people gave their lives to Christ and the fire of God fell powerfully. The following morning I shared my heart with the leadership team of that church.
On Friday I left Durres but not before a prophetic activation session with the students. This was so much fun and wonderful to see students hearing the voice of God, seeing visions and giving prophetic words.
Friday–Sunday I ministered at the International Church in Tirana. This church is led by Pastor Barry Ogden from the USA and was where I was based in July. Although I was only here for a few days this time, I still spoke four times and we saw God do some wonderful things. I felt the Lord strongly impress upon me the theme of drawing nearer to Him and this was the main theme of the meetings. Each service souls came to Christ and many were touched by the Holy Spirit. The Friday evening in particular was a glorious service with the presence of God being so thick. In this atmosphere many people received physical healing without anyone having to lay hands on them! What a great move of God this was!
I left so encouraged by all God is doing in Albania. God is raising up a new generation of leaders, hungry to hear the voice of God and move in the power of the Spirit. I expect to hear amazing reports coming out of the Balkan nations over the next two decades.
